Updating in Progress
Posted on September 18th, 2009 2 commentsFor those of you who are visually observant, you might notice that I changed my banner. I’m suffering (I use the term, loosely) from a head cold, making tough editing decisions a bit more difficult than usual today. Therefore, since I am unusually patient when under the weather, I am tinkering with my website. I’m making the changes I’ve been planning to make for the last 6 months. Who says being sick isn’t a blessing in disguise?
Anyway, I have changed my banner thingy. And there will be a few more changes (maybe even the reappearance of my blogroll! As well as links to my Twitter and Goodreads posts!) while I remove the Dreamweaver aspects of the site and switch the content onto the pages I created here, into WordPress pages. Am I making sense, or am I going technogeek on Tylenol Cold on you? Well, basically, what I am trying to say is that some of the pages you have bookmarked may change. Your RSS feeds, however, should remain unchanged. I will do my best to put ‘forwards’ on the pages I ‘remove’ so your links still work. (Essentially, take the ‘www’ out of your links.)
Wish me luck, I’m going in!
Updates:
* Please note that the email icon at the top now works if you are interested in dropping me a line. No spam, please.
* Website now has a tagline. Man, that was like writing a personal ad.
* Resources page is updated. Also posted a bit of Goodreads stuff there.
* Blogroll is back!
* Redirect should be working from the main site. You should only get WordPress bloggy looking jeanoram.com now.
* Twitter and It’s All Kid’s Play are RSSed in now.
What else? I think it’s good to go. If you notice any issues, let me know! Thanks.

I’m in love…
Posted on June 24th, 2008 No commentswith this new theme and what I’ve done to it. And I love my new graphic header. <Sigh.> Problem is, I now want to make the rest of my webpage look this lovely.

Goddess of Geek–Let’s Rename That to Goddess of Doofuses
Posted on June 17th, 2008 No commentsI’m cracking code again folks. Such joy in my geekitude. I love it!
I’ve already noticed that I am the ‘odd girl out’ in an online class I’m registered in. Why? Why am I always the odd gal out? Maybe I am just projecting that…

Anyway, please note there are more links in my blogroll and that you can now follow the link on the left to my homepage. That’s where I was making code work for me. Yeah, baby. I’m working it. Wahoo. Doing the stirring the pot dance. Oh yeah, that’s me. I know you wish it was you.
Now, to do a back up and some more fiddling with this site… I may even get into colour stuff again. Or not.
Can you tell the edit section of my brain is fried liked mashed potatoes? Can not think…Can only code…Can only follow steps that have no subjectivity… Mashed potatoes?
Later Note: Yep, thee olde brain really is mashed potatoes because while I was listening to my daughter, I kind of um, deleted something important and now I can’t get it back. Oops. So, in the meantime, enjoy this basic blog theme. I may not even bother trying to get my old one back as I didn’t really like it that much anyway and this gives me an excuse to experiment a bit more. So, hang tight…the geek-who-only-knows-enough-to-get-herself-into-trouble is on it!
Even Later Note: Officially hate WordPress now. Could they make backups and upgrades any more labor intensive? Nevermind…that isn’t important. What is important is that my blog is still here for the moment and I will attend to my blog issues later. It may require lying on a couch with someone with a German accent asking me not to regress, but as usual, I digress…
Still Later Note: Whew! I did it! I fixed it. Damn, I am dumb though. Lesson of the day, don’t try to code or at least remove extraneous code when you are distracted or you just might lose your whole blog. God, where is that Maalox? None? Okay, pass the Vodka then.
Seriously Later Note: Crap! I had everything all nice and my Goddesshood reinstated, but now things are um, vanishing. I was going to quit while I was ahead (new RSS buttons on left), but crap, I still have more to do…
Um? Later Still: Things are where they should be with the exception of the RSS button which thinks it should be in a directory I don’t have. But I can fix that. Or ignore it. Or delete it. Ma-ha-ha!

My Brain Still Works
Posted on May 30th, 2008 No commentsIt is always reassuring to discover that your brain still works and is able to recall things you learned ages ago and rarely use. This is the case with today’s distraction of making little images for some of my writing samples over on my Projects and Samples page. It was a lot of fun and I think it was just what my brain ordered after all the whirlwind of ideas, comments, critiques and theories and rules and suggestions and more rules about queries that my brain had to interpret, consider and then decide what to do with them. (Whew!) My brain is still allowing everything to whirl around regarding queries like bits of debris being flushed down the toilet. Okay, not the toilet, because it is going to retrieve everything (hopefully) and pick up all the things that floated to the top when the whirling ceases. So, maybe more like a, um…well something that whirls and separates the good and bad. Centrifuge. There we go. My brain is like a centrifuge.
Where was I? Ah yes, I made some graphics. It was fun. I only had to use five separate programs to make them and get them posted. Really. And really, it was a fun challenge. Really.
I am such a geek, aren’t I?

Work in Progress
Posted on March 14th, 2008 No commentsHey there.
I am playing with the blog’s theme again. Slowly, things will shape up and change, so if you see some strange things, fear not. So things will shape up or I will discard the whole thing and start over. (Again.) I wanted to pull my banner into the blog, but I’m having trouble finding a suitable theme to bastardize. My hacking skills when it comes to code is very limited.
Hang in there and let me know what you think of the new theme/look.

Never Satisfied
Posted on March 11th, 2008 No commentsSo now that I have my site all revamped and this blog software down pat, I want to change it all. I have new ideas in mind. Ideas which, of course, will require me to learn all sorts of new stuff. That means that I likely won’t actually do it. Not yet, anyway. I think I will change the ‘theme’ of my blog page’s style though. I have decided that there are much nicer ones out there.
There was an interesting post in the Ask Daphne section on KT Literary’s website which has got my stomach doing little flips. Here is a link: http://www.ktliterary.com/daphne.html. It is the posting on ‘what is published’. There is a growing debate in the comments section on whether to post writing samples or not on your website. I have posted mine and I think it is a good idea. At the same time, my stomach squeezes like a dishrag full of water at the thought of someone plagiarizing me or me doing something ‘wrong’ and wrecking my chances of getting published. Eeek!
I went blog hopping this morning and ended up on a blog that was really good. And it made me feel inferior. Which is silly because we all have our own style. I think fighting this cold has got me a bit down. Maybe I shouldn’t edit my own work this morning–I might slash and burn everything!
In the end, I think today is a day to hole up at home. Well, except that I have to go wrestle 20 4-year-olds wielding paint brushes this afternoon. That should be entertaining. I think I had better take some cold medication before I go. I will not succumb to this cold, I will not!

Still Glitchy
Posted on February 25th, 2008 No commentsWell, the glitches won’t get out. They won’t get out of the car and they won’t get out of my website. So, basically, yesterday was a waste.
It is so foggy here at the moment that I can’t even see the house across the park. So, when that lifts I will go tinker with the car some more. I made an appointment with the shop for tomorrow. But they cahrge $90 an hour. When did that happen? Didn’t it used to be $60? Maybe they just hate electrical crap. I know I do. So, I’ve done more research on the Internet–I am not alone in my troubles. Anyway, I will go out later and wiggle some wires and see what I can discover.
As for my website…the cascading style sheets still aren’t loading properly which results in tiny links and smaller than specified fonts. So much fun. But I have an idea. I’ll make a dummy page and steal its css code. Or at least compare the two.
Or maybe I’ll live with the glitches.

That’s great.
Posted on February 24th, 2008 No commentsJust great.
I had almost all the banner gifs working on my site and then I did some more work and uploaded everything again and now NONE of my banner’s work. However, my bio page is finally working. Let’s see, was that one step forward and about one back? I thought I was supposed to go at least two forward and one back!
On the bright side, the tools I need to fix my car are now on their way home. Let’s see what I can go screw up over there…I mean, fix.
