I’m pasting old blog posts from 2 years ago into WordPress and all I gotta say is, I’ve come a long way. I read over some of those posts and I want to edit them! I want to clean up the writing, add hyphens, rearrange sentences and a lot more. I’m not though. They need to remain as a reminder of where I’ve come from. I sure have gotten a lot more serious and ‘about the business’ in my posts though–holy smokes!

One of my first posts surprised me. I forgot what a noob (newbie) I was when it came to the humongous world of writing. I had not a clue. I owe a huge thank you to all those literary agents blogging their little hearts out as well as the community over at AgentQuery. Those two things have been huge in helping me get to where I am today–a better writer who has her head in the game (and knows which room the game happens to located as well).

    • Well, Jean,

I have an agent who’s battling to find a publisher. This writing business takes infinite patience. Perhaps I’ll publish posthumously, as I’m getting up there!

I’m intrigued by ‘knows which room the game happens to be located..”

      Any further comments on that?

    • Hi Fran,

I suppose, ‘Which room’ means that I have an idea of how things work now. When I first started out, I thought, ‘Hey, I wrote something, let’s get it published.’ I didn’t know about agents, query letters, how to present myself, or even what kind of shape my story had to be in, in order to be considered. I didn’t understand how the money aspect worked (advances and such), the time it would take or how slim my chances were. I was some gal off the street, trying to make ‘it’, not really understanding what steps I had to take, or what train I needed to take off what platform.

Now, I understand the workings a lot better and know what to expect. I suppose that is what I mean by ‘what room.’

Best of luck finding a publisher! (You’ve obviously found the right room!)
      Jean
