Book Review: Remember Me?
Posted on January 13th, 2009 4 commentsBook review for Remember Me?
By Sophie KinsellaI love this book! Chick lit isn’t dead, it’s simply a fact that nobody can keep up with pros like Kinsella. For example, take the amnesia angle. Been done before, right? Blah. Who can make that interesting, fresh, novel and new? Sophie Kinsella. The amnesia angle has never been done quite like this before.
The main character, Lexi, loses the past three years of her life. In most peoples’ lives, this would be no big deal. However, for Lexi it is. She has undergone some MAJOR changes in this time-frame. It is safe to say that she is no longer the same person. She’s gotten in shape, has killer fingernails, maybe had a little work done, drives, has her boss’s job, all new friends and lives in an amazing condo. Her new life seems to be some sort of fabulous dream. In real life, it’s a bit of a nightmare. But I won’t tell you why or I’ll spoil all the twists.
The plot is believable, the characters and their motivations, even the behaviours. As well, there is the odd evil co-worker involved and of course, personal growth for the main character.
All I can say is it’ll make you laugh, cry and not be able to put it down. I was sad when the book was done. I want more! It’s been weeks since I read it and I still want more. I know it’s a story I’ll read again. Enjoy!

You are SO right. I loved this one too! I thought it was one of her best yet, and I read it in a single happy sitting.
(Meg Cabot, Marian Keyes, and Katie Fforde are my other favorites for adult chick lit. You?)

Stephanie just accepted representation from Kate Shafer-Testerman over at KT Literary yesterday. Isn’t that fabulous? Congratulations again, Stephanie. Wishing you the best in your writing career.

I forgot to mention some more of my favourites. Some of them cross over into other genres, but if you like Sophie K, you might like them too.
I too, am a Meg Cabot (Goddess of Chick Lit) fan. As well, I like Jane Green (fabulous!), Jennifer Weiner (stupendous!), Helen Fielding (my hero) and Mary Janice Davidson (funny).
I’ll have to check out Marian Keyes. My cousin really likes her. I haven’t heard of Katie Fforde. I’ll have to check her out too. Maybe when my ‘to be read’ stack gets down to less towering levels–say below 20.
Thanks for the new authors to check out.
(I also read ‘Mulitple Choice’ (Claire Cook)and ‘Sleeping with Ward Cleaver’ (Jenny Gardiner) in the past year. They are lesser known writers and just as fabulous.)

I forgot about Emily Griffin. She’s good too.
